Adoption is a lifelong journey, not a single event When people think about adoption, they often picture a happy ending: a child placed with loving parents, a family completed, a fresh start. That picture is real, but it is incomplete. Adoption also involves loss. For the adoptee, the story begins with separation from birth parents, and that early rupture shapes much of what follows.
